On July 31^st our team visited Hostomel and Irpin and gave another 15 families, ever since the project was founded we helped over 159 families. People with we met and conversed told us the unforgettable horrors of life during the battles and temporal occupation of these cities.

Rita who lived Pol’ova street, Hostomel, returned from abroad with her children recently. While she was abroad and her husband was on the frontline, the occupiers burned down their house purposefully. Her neighbors wanted to put the fire out, but russians threatened them with their machine guns and warned not to approach the burning house. Rita’s husband is a soldier who fought russians in 2014 and took arms again in 2022 when russia invaded Ukraine. Rita told us that before burning their house down, russians came to their place, Rita said that they dig the trench nearby forest and fields which were visible from Rita’s house. Near those fields were Ukraine’s army positions.

 

Their garage was intact but on its wall were curses in russian saying ‘this is for Luhansk, bastard’.

Rita’s older daughter is now on her way to summer camp in Greece, her other two sons stayed with mom while their father in on the frontlines.

Mrs. Lidiya lives on Haharina street in Hostomel along with her husband. Their house was demolished as a result of russian mine shelling exploding over it. The house was shelled two times by russians during one of the shelling their dog was killed as it was inside the house. The old couple has survived because they were at their neighbor’s house. Now all that Kravchuk family have is a chicken farm, module house and stainless cutlery which was in the house and burned in it. Its not usable anymore but still a reminder of their prewar life.
